Description
The Toy is an enemy mainly spawned by the Gift Box that also appears early in XMAS Nightmare. It has relatively low health but is extremely fast. The groups it spawns in due to the Gift Box can make it a formidable foe that easily runs through any and all defenses.
It also makes an appearance in Part II of the Frosty's Invasion Event, acting as a fast but fragile enemy in the early game that rapidly gets to the Fortress Snowlyn Gate. In early waves, it appears alone, but it later appears in large hordes with speed boosts.
Appearance
The Toy is a humanoid with a rusty red torso and legs and has an arm band of the same colour on its upper right arm. Its "skin" is otherwise green, and its face has a cracked hole inside revealing two white eyes inside darkness. On its back is a wind-up mechanism typical of a clockwork toy.
Strategies
- Normal
- The Toy spawns in groups from the Gift Box, so crowd-control towers should handle them easily.
- The M202 Trooper is a great option against it, as it deals
45 with AOE and can fire in bursts of 4 rockets. It can also tank up to 2 Toys at full health before dying.
- Do try to have more than one Barracks with M202 Troopers as they spawn quite slowly and have a long reload time once its rockets are spent.
- The Artillery, if microed properly, can easily clear hordes of Toys with its large range and splash.
- Armored Factory's MRAP upgrade can be used more effectively to clean up Toys due to it having splash damage and high health, though it is more expensive than other options.
- The M202 Trooper is a great option against it, as it deals
- In the late game, multiple Juggernauts will shred hordes of Toys.
- Defend the Objective
- Lightly upgraded early-game towers like John, Sniper, or Laser Gunner can take out the Toy during the first few waves.
- Barracks are particularly effective due to their units having high DPS and being able to stay away from most enemies, preventing them from dying to collision damage.
- Towers like Juggernaut can shred the horde of Toys that appear on wave 4 of Christmas II.
- AOE towers are useful, but they either have poor range or cost too much during the early game.
- The Sentries near the Fortress Snowlyn Gate are sufficient to take out Toys in the early game, though they will require support in later waves.
