Description
Endless Mode is the second hardest gamemode out of the six modes, right before Nightmare Mode. It has every mini-boss and boss from the previous modes (including event ones), with the addition of the Plague Guardian, Avatar, Eradicator MK IV, Eradidog, Eradicator MK I Combat, Hunter, Apex Predator, Calamity, Golden Eradicator Mark IV, Golden Eradicator MK I Combat, and Void Apex Predator. This mode is NOT endless (despite the name), ending on Wave 201.
Despite the high difficulty and length, this comes with great victory rewards. Past Wave 80, Endless Mode awards players by far the most power-ups out of all in-game gamemodes. It also guarantees a Nuclear Missile after reaching Wave 201, which is the strongest power-up in the game. Furthermore, an exorbitant amount of cash is given as a reward, as reaching Wave 201 grants at least
25,000, which is the highest raw monetary reward the game can offer. XP rewards are also incredibly high, granting 25,125 XP. Overall, while it may not be as fast as other modes, Endless Mode is arguably the best for the raw grinding of money if one doesn't want to commit to continuous grinding, and it is also the best for the sheer amount of power-ups it grants.
Strategies
- While it is possible to beat Wave 200 solo, it is very difficult without proper strategy and towers, so it is recommended to play with two or three players to reduce the workload if you're attempting Endless Mode for the first time or if you want to be safe about your chances to getting far.
- Generally, a quad-sized team is not superior to a trio, because of how the money bonuses work. Don't forget to plan out how far you'll go.
- Players playing in a team of two or more should be assigned different roles due to limited Tower placing.
- One player should be dedicated to Warship and equip a monetary tower, such as Golden Mobster or Mobster.
- While Farm or Oil Derrick can be used, it won't make as much money as the former two towers.
- One player should be dedicated to early game defense and stunning bosses.
- One Player should be dedicated to DPS.
- One player should be dedicated to using Mine Layer/Golden Mine Layer and support towers
- Bear in mind all players are highly recommended to bring a high DPS towers, such as Golden Juggernaut.
- One player should be dedicated to Warship and equip a monetary tower, such as Golden Mobster or Mobster.
- Players playing in a team of two or more should be assigned different roles due to limited Tower placing.
- Generally, a quad-sized team is not superior to a trio, because of how the money bonuses work. Don't forget to plan out how far you'll go.
- Be careful on relying on Warship or Golden Juggernaut, as this mode contains numerous bosses that are able to wipe out hordes of high value towers, such as the those listed above.
- XWM Turret is a reliable way of damage, whilst also having four rebuilds, but cannot be buffed by support towers and is one of two towers in game (with Refractor being the other) to have dynamic pricing.
- Towers that stun or freezing ones should be brought for this gamemode, as enemies typically appear in hordes and/or are fast, especially ones that ignore Stun Resistance or can freeze bosses, such as Combat Drone and Cryo Helicopter.
- Note that Void and Nightmare Void are unable to be stunned or frozen.
- Due to the high amount of waves this gamemode has, Farm is recommended as it can generate massive amounts of cash over time.
- The top path is especially useful as it provides money to players and increases base health, allowing players to tank most enemies should they get past the defense.
- The Farm loses value later on in the game income wise, as the sheer amount of high health enemies provide more than enough cash.
- Support towers like Toxicnator, Mine Layer or Golden Mine Layer are highly recommended to bring for longer rounds due to later waves having massive hordes of high health zombies.
- Cryo Blaster can be used to stall out waves, giving (Golden) Mine Layer time to build up mines.
- It is highly recommended to play on Simple or Easy maps, as these maps will help alleviate this gamemode's high difficulty.
- Only attempt Endless Mode on Normal or Hard maps if players are highly experienced, coordinated and/or have proper strategies.
- As for Impossible maps, it is entirely possible to reach to Wave 100, but requires a very coordinated and strategic team, along with intense micromanagement for towers. Wave 200 is also possible, but this requires even more micromanagement, and requires specific towers like Cryo Helicopter or Ice Breaker and a lot of Stunning towers.
- Power-ups aren't needed, but they do help out late game past Wave 80 due to the high number of crowds, tanky and fast enemies that appear.
- Endless Mode was created before the introduction of air towers. As a result, most enemies are unable to attack towers like Helicopter and Jet Trooper, making them generally a safe investment with a low risk of dying.
- There are a small handful of notably dangerous attacks that can threaten flying towers, such as Apex Predator's core explosion, Eradicator MK IV's attacks, and Golden Eradicator MK IV's attacks.
Notable waves
- A few waves stand out in difficulty and should be minded during the late game:
- Wave 130 contains an Apex Predator with two Eradicator MK IVs, an Assailant was spawned afterwards.
- Wave 134 contains a superbuffed Revived Mutated Zombie rush and a few Plague Guardians.
- Players are recommended to stun as many of the Revived Mutated Zombies as possible to group them up, or use a Freezing Tower to freeze the Revived Mutated Zombies.
- Wave 150 marked the debut of the Golden Eradicator MK IV.
- The Golden Eradicator MK IV should not pose much of a threat, however do note that if Refractor or Warship is used, the Golden Eradicator MK IV can cause significant money loss and defenses consisting of them.
- Try to utilize Glided Payload's blindzone and bait it by using XWM Turrets

- Waves 151, 159, 168, 176, 177, 181, and 184-189 have large hordes of Assailants, which have high health and are Laser Resistant and explosive resistant with minor Gold Resistance.
- Laser Towers such as Refractor should not be used against the Assailant

- Wave 166 has a buffed (
14.5M HP) Calamity.
- Players are recommended to stun the Calamity as much as possible.
- Wave 170 has Golden Eradicator MK I Combat.
- Whilst not much of a threat, defenses can be heavily damaged if defenses are not prepared enough.
- Wave 171 has two high HP Grumbles and numerous Resurrected Johns.
- Wave 172 marks the debut of the Nightmare Void.
- Players are recommended to beat Nightmare Void as quick as possible to minimize damage to defenses due to Tower Conversion and Warships being instantly killed.
- Wave 179 has four Goliaths with
6M HP and
6M Shield.
- Stunning Towers should be used to stun them.
- Wave 180 has a Calamity and Void paired together.
- Any towers should be set to Last targeting to minimize any defenses from being Converted by Void.
- Wave 190 has Void and a Multiplier X.
- Due to there being 2 Voids, the weaker Void should be killed first.
- Wave 191 has two Calamities, each with
6.6M HP. - Wave 200 has the Void Apex Predator and a Void.
- Void should be killed first to minimize any damage to Warships.

Power-up Rewards
Power-ups are earned cumulatively upon completing milestone waves. If you die attempting Wave X, you receive all rewards from milestones ≤ X-1 (i.e., waves you fully cleared). Tables evolve from basic support (health/cash/recon) to high-end DPS (MOAB/Nuclear/Golden Zed). Duplicates possible; weights shown for key tables.

- Endless Mode is currently the longest gamemode, featuring 201 waves and that can last for 1.5-2 hours.
- While most people initially assumed that Endless Mode is Nightmare Mode, it was confirmed later that they were two different modes.
- The teaser trailer for Endless Mode was originally called "Tower Defense X Nightmare Mode Teaser", but was changed to Endless Mode teaser once the trailer came out. This was mostly John's prank to fool the community into thinking the upcoming mode was Nightmare Mode.
- The Bombardier was shown in John's Endless Mode showcase livestream, but is currently omitted in Endless.
- The Bombardier later returned in Ultra Nightmare Mode.
- The last bit of dialogue comes from the Advisor at the start of Wave 121, who appears to say "You're not supposed to be here."
- This is a remnant from the first version Endless Mode's wave format where Wave 120 was designed to be impossible to complete.
- Endless Mode is the first gamemode to have manually adjusted statistics, specifically health, shield, and speed.
- Though Endless Mode is advertised as Endless, an informal end is established through an impossible wave.
- From it's initial release to 27 April 2024, this was done on Waves 120 & 121, with wave 120 featuring a Calamity with
13,333,332 and +25% speed increase both shared with it's spawns, and wave 121 featuring a Multiplier X which would multiply the Wave 120 calamity, a John Toilet, and a Calamity with
26,666,665 health and an unknown speed increase, both shared by it's spawns. - From 27 April 2024 to 20 July 2024, this was done on wave 172 & 173, with wave 172 featuring twenty Calamities with
679,999,932 and
2,039,999,796, meaning you were supposed to deal a total of
54,399,994,560 damage.
- In practice, however, you would have to deal much more due to the Calamities' spawns.
- Wave 173 featured 3 SUPER REVIVED TOLIET JOHN MK I9X with
306M health and
918M shield. - Currently, this is done on Wave 201 with a large group of 999 Endbringers, which is a reference to the final wave of PvP mode in Tower Battles.
- Ironically, the Endbringers in TB's PvP mode are also possible to defeat.[1]

- According to the lore, any wave after Wave 80 is not canon, meaning the Goliath, Assailant, Void Apex Predator, Golden Eradicator MK IV and Golden Eradicator MK I Combat are not canon.
- Currently, Endless Mode is the only mode where you can rewind waves 1-9 with gold.
- Although extremely difficult and costly, it is possible to beat Wave 201 with several Power-ups, high usage of Interactive Abilities, and on the map Highrise.[2] This is not worth attempting because you do not gain any extra rewards in doing so.
- Additionally, following the release of several other towers, it is now possible to solo Wave 201 without powerups. [3]
- The reason why Endless Mode has so many random waves is because John "did 100 waves in 5 days and got 12 hours of sleep in those 5 days," and didn't want to do it again for his and Atrazine's health.
